From the description: This is a wonderful old ballad from Britain featuring the typical male/female dialogue concerning, in this case, a murder in the family. The song contains references to ancient European ideas (e.g. the significance of the Sycamore as the "tree of life") as well as insights into farming, hunting and private disputes over land and property. The song closes with the male protagonist deciding to sail off, presumably, to America. I learned this song from a recording by Art Rosenbaum, professor at the University of Georgia. (gDGCD)

I really enjoy this old song and wanted to pass it on.
