I'm looking for resources on the history of secularism; its origin and development.

My understanding of secularism proper (not the bastardised modernism we have now) is that it refers to the temporal realm; which concerns the goods related to the body, as opposed to the spiritual realm which concerns the soul. Most often it's tied to the Reformation and post-reformation era; and it has had quite the impact worldwide.

Thank you.

Haven't read either myself but am a fan of the IB Tauris and Very Short Introduction series.
Thank you. The first one especially seems like what I've been looking for.

Any reason for your liking towards IB Tauris?
