Also, I believe that the sentenced highlight in bold in this post is perhaps the most comforting line ever written by an uninspired man.
Yes that is very encouraging. As you noted this comes from the sermon "Jeremiah's plaint". In his insightful essay introducing Vos' letters, Dr Dennison argues that the sermon "Jeremiah's plaint" was as if Vos was writing about himself. Vos went through many personal trials. He suffered from terrible sleep deprivation. He was awkward socially. Dr Dennison explains this is why Vos' writings probably took a long time to be fully appreciated. This reminds me of Richard Sibbes statement in the Bruised Reed "In heaven there will be a resurrection of bodies, there will also be a resurrection of reputations".
