I watched "Gone With the Wind" all the way through for the first time in years tonight. I'd forgotten what a good-looking film it is. I spent the entire film admiring cinematographer Ernest Haller's shot compositions and his use of color. It really is a remarkable film, from the technical point of view.

And, I believe, the highest grossing movie ever, adjusted for inflation. Not bad for a movie with an entr'acte.

One of my favorite movies of all time. I think the only movie I like more is "Since You Went Away".

I agree Bookslover about the quality of the picture. It amazes me when I watch an old movie as to how detailed the picture quality and colour etc are. I watched an old John Wayne cowboy movie a while back and you could see the pores in their skin on the close ups, clearly. So many of the new movies I have seen these days don't even come close to the quality of those old classics. They must have used awesome quality film stock back in those days. Shame they don't now!
Yep, great old movie that one.
