Puritan Board Doctor
Ezekiel Hopkins wrote the following about God's providence (commenting on Jesus' statement concerning the hairs of our head being numbered):

Hence we learn that God governs the meanest, the most inconsiderable, and contemptible occurrences in the world by an exact and particular providence. Do you see a thousand little motes and atoms wandering up and down in a sun-beam? It is God that so peoples it; and he guides their innumerable and irregular strayings (from An Exposition on the Lord's Prayer, p. 267, quoted in A Puritan Theology, edited by Beeke/Jones, p. 165).

Always liked that quote and R.C. Spoul's take on it, too.

“If there is one single molecule in this universe running around loose, totally free of God’s sovereignty, then we have no guarantee that a single promise of God will ever be fulfilled.”
