Flesh and spirit

I was reading Isaiah 31 in my personal devotions this evening and was struck by verse 3:

Now the Egyptians are men, and not God;
And their horses are flesh, and not spirit.

I so often act like the physical is more real than the spiritual and demonstrate the frailty of my faith. This superior relationship of spirit and flesh I too easily reverse in my head. Intellectual knowledge is the easy part of the Christian faith. Living like we believe what we confess is where the rubber meets the road.

By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible. (Heb. 11:3)
