Hello everyone...I am thinking of purchasing the Expositor's Bible Commentary. There's a significant difference in pricing (either the print version or the Logos version). Looking to save some money! :)

I'm wondering if any of you have an idea of how they compare to each other.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

I'm not very impressed with the Expositor's commentary because it is all over the map. Some of them are excellent, such as D.A. Carson on Matthew and J.M. Boice on Galatians, but others are not as good. I would recommend acquiring this set in the cheapest manner possible.

The new edition has fifty-six contributors, thirty of whom are new.

If you like the work represented in the original, who cares about the new one? If you are someone who just HAS to have the LATEST bibliography, most RECENT journal articles references, and you prefer the work of the new authors, then get the updated one.

Either way, with a few exceptions (e.g. Carson on Matthew clocking in at 599 pages in the original edition) the commentaries are pretty brief.
