Dramaturgy

Strictly speaking, a dramaturg is someone who provides specific and in-depth knowledge to a director about the subject matter. In this way, many Biblical theologians would consider themselves to be 'dramaturgic'. What specifically is the unique message of these whom you have linked?

Vanhoozer states that doctrine is dramatic and such drama gives life to the church and orders theology.

Maybe you could give us a review when you are done. I am having trouble understanding how doctrine is dramatic. I can see how redemptive history is dramatic, but doctrine itself?

I am only about 70 pages into, but as I catch his argument we tend to think of the narratives in the Bible as merely being proof-texts for our doctrines. Vanhoozer, Hays et al say that the doctrines in the Bible, on one level, actually build and point to the larger narrative.
