De Moor: The Similarity in the Roman and Jewish Defense of Unwritten Traditions

Thanks for sharing. A conjecture I made early on in my Christian faith still holds true to this day, I find: "Where not grounded in Scripture, tradition is the enemy of truth."

It's incredible, particularly in the Roman and Jewish traditions, how much "keeping the family" Jewish or Catholic takes priority over the pursuit of truth as revealed in God's Word.

That's not to say that we Reformed are not susceptible to the same mentality, but at the very least, we realize our capacity to fallibility and search the Scriptures with enthusiasm, discipline and rigor.

I cringe when I read Jewish sources that regularly cite the Talmudish traditions with nary a reference to the Tanakh.
