It was a long docket yesterday, and I had almost an hour between some cases.

Normally I try to do something "productive" on those down times, but this time I was too worn out to look at another case or brief.

So I doodled on a tune that has been haunting me for months. From Louis Bourgeois' 1551 tune for Psalm 42, commonly called "Thirsting" and a version is found in the Red Trinity hymnal as 197.

In case you haven't heard of him, he was one of the primary composers of the tunes in the Geneva Psalter during Beza's and Calvin's time. It seems he had a falling out with them later, but his tunes give a flavor of the musical tastes of that time. He also likely wrote the tune for "Old 100th."

Forgive the MIDI rendering. It's all I had while sitting with my tablet PC in court.
