Best book on church history, please.
I was looking for something chronological that launches out of the book of Acts.

History of the Christian Church, 8 vols.: Philip Schaff (4000 pages or so).

Shorter, A History of Christianity - KS Latourette. (1800 pages or so)

Short - The Story of Christianity - Justo Gonzalez

Super short - simple - Church History in Plain Language, Bruce Shelly. (2 Hour Read)

Or just go through the cliff note version of church history and theology at APM.

2000 years of Christ's Power [ 4 vols ] is an excellent work that "launches out of the book of Acts".

Needham is good, but he says some goofy things on Marcion; other than that, it is fantastic. Shelly is better than one might expect, given its intro nature.

Volume 1 on Schaff gives a lot of material post 33 AD.

We used Everett Ferguson in seminary.
