I realized recently that I have not posted anything that is not serious, as far as I know. This is the only venue where I can make contact with multiple North Americans and Britons. I find the different pronunciations of certain words fascinating, and thanks to Canadian television I have even picked up a few non-American ones. Namely, pah-sta became pa-sta (pæ - sta, a drawn out a noise) and prah-gress became pro-gress. Anyway, one that I find really interesting, because of how different it is, is "controversy". I know that Americans and some Britons say: con-tro-versy. This is how I say it. I also know some Britons say: con-trover-sy. For those of you in Britain who pronounce it the second way, how common is it? How many of you North Americans even knew there was another way to say it? I know this is a silly topic for a post, but it is something that interests me.
