I'm thinking of adding a page to the church's website that would have book recommendations on different topics. Maybe something like I've seen with John Piper but (more reformed...*cough). :)

First (I'll make another thread on what books, so no books yet), what categories of books should I have for a Church website?

Categories I'm thinking of right now (Tell me if you think it shouldn't be there or what you would add):

Systematic Theology (General)
God/Trinity (Theology)
Christology
Ecclesiology
Soteriology
Worship
Sacramentology
Psalters/Hymnals
Eschatology
Historical Theology
Holiness/Piety
Parenting/Family
Pastoral Theology/Preaching
Bibles
Bible Reference
Commentaries
Missions/Evangelism
Culture/World
Biography
Marriage
Men
Women
Ethics

maybe biblical counseling but that could go under pastoral theology. other than that it looks like a thorough list.

I think I was going to put counseling under Pastoral Theology/Preaching or Holiness/Piety depending on the book.

I would maybe use layman's terms, if that's who you are trying to help.
Something like:
Ecclesiology (The Study of the Church)
or just this link:
Understanding the Church

If a regular person saw a link for "Soteriology" he would probably not click it, unless he was really curious and googled that word and found out what you were talking about.
So maybe:
Soteriology (The doctrine of Salvation)
or even just:
Understanding Salvation

Just my opinion: )

Thanks for your good opinion, I planned on doing that, just didn't want to type it all out here.:gpl:

I was thinking about also putting next to each book a description of the 'hardness' of reading it. So something like 'Advanced' for very intellectual, maybe even academic type books, and the other two 'descriptions' I can't think of what I would name them. Something describing a Medium hardness, and then a novice or basic type. And doing so without making people think they are dumb for reading the 'basic' type book. Any help?

We did our church library from scratch. This was just the starting list, it has expanded a lot. People tend to like CDs a lot to listen to in the car.
