The Old Gospel Way: Or, The Marrow of what Old Divines Have Said Upon the Gospel, Edited by Andrew A. Bonar (1810-1892), FP Publications, 2016, pbk, 118pp, £6.75
John Brown of Whitburn, the son of John Brown of Haddington, in a volume titled Gospel Truth accurately stated and illustrated, collected extracts from the writings of the Marrow-men (Thomas Boston, Ebenezer and Ralph Erskine and their associates). The Marrow Controversy took place in the Church of Scotland between 1718 and 1723 and focused on the relationship between God's grace and our works.
The extracts illustrate the heart of the Marrow-men's teaching in defence of evangelical truth. In this book Andrew Bonar has selected the very best of these extracts to show the Old Gospel Way.
"To apprehend the Gospel is to understand the mind of God toward us sinners. The Holy Ghost uses this Gospel as his instrument in the conversion of souls, 'It is the power of God unto salvation.'" Andrew Bonar

A treasure trove of Gospel teaching by some of the most eminent and godly ministers in the history of the Church, practically impossible to find on the second hand market, this is the first time it has been reprinted since the 19th Century.
