I just wanted to wish you all, even those who might not view the sabbath the same as others, a blessed Lord's day tomorrow. Even if you don't believe the Sabbath to still be a binding day, may you still be refreshed and blessed by this token of our heavenly rest, and may you moved and stirred to further delight in our God. May your hope and expectation of the rest to come be heightened.

I thought these words from John Howe were worth considering this evening as we prepare for our delightful duty and blessing:

Reckon much upon an eternal abode in that presence, where is fulness of joy and pleasures for evermore. Enjoy, by a serious believing foresight, the delights of heaven; labor to rejoice in hope of the glory of God. Look beyond this your present state. Confine not your eye and delight to what is now to be enjoyed, but think of what shall be. Set before your eyes the glorious prospect of the blessed God communicating himself to that vast assembly of angels and the spirits of just men made perfect, in clearest discoveries of his glory, and richest effusions of his goodness. (Delighting in God)

The rest is set forth for us, and we partake of it especially tomorrow.

May the Lord bless you all.

Thank you for this post and reminding us to look beyond the present.
