Before the Mountains

Only times I climbed it was in the car, (on the road of course). Something primeval about the scattered rock outcrops, and the views are stunning. But they are only exhibitions of the One who being eternal and omnipotent, brought them into being by the word of His power. Good on your sister in doing the climb, and combatting the wind.

A few summers ago I had the pleasure of being able to go hiking and fly-fishing in Rocky Mountain National Park (even falling into an ice lake in the middle of May, but that's another story). The only word I could think of to describe the mountains, "glory," has stuck with me.

"...Break forth into singing, ye mountains...," and sing they do.

Machen's "Mountains and Why We Love Them," with a bit of background on that address:

Thank you for posting this, really.
