Puritan Board Senior
“Here, We Entrust Ourselves to You”

Here, we entrust ourselves to You.

This dawning day, refresh, renew

our weak’nd hearts by sov’rn love

from Thou, whose words the mountains move.

A cov’nant in all ordered, sure

concerning us: it will endure

and to its Surety glory bring!

The Lamb once slain, now crowned as King!

His rule is for His people’s good;

His ev’ry grace for us assured;

The Father through the Son shall not

fail to fulfill ev’ry jot

the Holy Ghost breathed out for us.

Men of clay, learn here to trust

in God, whose hand stretch’d out the sky:

for on His providence rely

all things. On Him, o soul, depend,

who is thy Master, Saviour, Friend!

His word will stand, His purpose sure

for ev’ry promise is secured

by this pierced Saviour’s blood

and empty tomb! His death made good

the Law’s demands for God’s elect,

and through His death He did effect

salvation promis’d long ago;

come graced hearts! to thy God go!

His tomb lies empty! Death now has died!

vanquished by the crucified

and risen Christ! God’s pow’r shown

so we His lost sheep may come home.

Our souls find refuge at His side,

whose name is Way, and Truth, and Life.

This Shepherd who died for His sheep

now lives again! Our souls He’ll keep

forever safe in faithful care;

our burdens daily now He bears,

that we might trust, and rest, and joy

in One whom death could not destroy.

This pow’r of indestructible life

rests in Him whose face gleams bright

with glory of our God on high:

His grace will keep us, ‘til we die.

These things are sure. Thus, God, we pray:

“Guard now our souls throughout this day,

that we a seed may prove to be:

those marked by Your purity.

Make us to hunger after You;

our sinning hearts, by grace renew

through Your dear Word.” Hear this, our plea,

that we might know and honor Thee.

Grant now our feet to follow true

the gospel path, afresh, anew.

That this day we commune with Thee,

teach us holy sincerity

in word and deed, in heart and head,

for He now lives, who once was dead.

So we today entrust to You

our souls – for Thou art faithful, true.

Grant now our feet to follow true

the gospel path, afresh, anew.
That this day we commune with Thee,
teach us holy sincerity
in word and deed, in heart and head,
for He now lives, who once was dead.

All very good and true.
Thank-you Reagan.

Very nice. You might wish to unify the personal pronouns of God to harmonize with each other. At some points you refer to God at "You", and at other times "Thee." Literarily/poetically, unifying each personal pronoun to either all "You" or "Thee" strengthens your composition.
Juat a thought from a fellow amateur poet. :)

Thanks for your kind words and suggestions, y'all. I'm glad you enjoyed it!

It's been a long time since I wrote any poetry.
