Welcome all to the 2019 Bowl Bash! Winner of this contest shall run next year's College Pick 'Em (or has the option to defer to another of their choice to do the honors).
Contestants for this year, qualifying as weekly winners are:
earl40 (+1)
Edward (+1)
Henry Hall (+1)
Sola Scriptura (+1)
toddpedlar (+1)
Backwoods Presbyterian
Edm
Green Baggins
Puritan Covenanter
TomVols
The (+1) by the first five names, you may recall, indicates that those contestants will have one bonus point added to their Bowl total, by virtue of their winning two weekly contests (so the regular season "matters" in this sense).
The rules for the Bowl Bash are very simple. One point for each of the 41 bowl games - this includes the Championship game. Contestants will also be asked to predict the score of the championship game.
So the person with the best score of 41 will be the winner of our contest. Note: This means that the BASELINE comparison does include the national championship game as one of the 41.
In the event that two or more people have the same score out of 41 after the national championship game, we will break the tie using a slightly modified procedure as in the regular season, incorporating the idea that predicting both the participants in the national championship game is an important factor. Naturally, when picks are submitted, I'll expect that your two participants in the national championship game match your two winners of the semifinals!
First tiebreak: Was the correct winner predicted?
Second tiebreak: Was the correct loser predicted?
Third tiebreak: Who has the closest predicted score, using the metric that I've used all season to determine which score is closest to the actual.
Fourth tiebreak: Who submitted their final picks first.
Thus far the rules for the Bowl Bash. Next, I will post the games. All picks must be submitted by 1pm Central Standard time on December 20.
Enjoy! And again, it's been a great pleasure to serve as our contest commissioner this year!
