W. G. T. Shedd was a very good stylist; David Bebbington says that he was quite influenced by the Romantics and even edited the works of Coleridge.

David Bebbington says, 'William G. T. Shedd ... became an enthusiast for the Romantics without abating one jot of his commitment to Westminster orthodoxy, editing in 1853 the complete works of [Samuel Taylor] Coleridge.'
