What are some of your favorite nostalgic 90s songs? I'm putting together a playlist and don't want to miss anything good. Thanks!

There’s so many that it’s hard to choose. I usually just search YouTube for a playlist.

But I still haven’t figured out how to truly enjoy the music I listened to before I was saved, unless it’s something truly good such as classical music. The stuff that isn’t inherently good, but more so just nostalgic, that’s just not enjoyable at the soul level.

Sorry for the rabbit trail.

How about Alive by Edwin?

"Two Princes" by the Spin Doctors (1993)

Many songs by the Gin Blossoms, Hootie and the Blowfish, Alanis Morissette, and No Doubt all also come to mind.

Half Man-Half Boy : Thee Hypnotics
Twin Earth : Monster Magnet
Coyote Duster: Fu Manchu
Low Self Opinion: Henry Rollins

A couple of songs summarize 90s music:

Billy Ray Cyrus - Achy Breaky Heart
Los Del Rio - Macarena

OK, that's a bit of overstatement. Meatloaf was putting out some music in the 90s.

I tend to avoid a lot of the music I listened to in the 90s but the songs below are still on my playlists.

Smashing Pumpkins
The Verve - Bitter Sweet Symphony
Collective Soul - Shine
Gin Blossoms - found out about you
Tom Petty - Mary Janes Last Dance
Oasis - Live Forever
Candlebox - Far Behind
Pearl Jam - Daughter
Weezer - Buddy Holly
Aerosmith - Amazing
Aerosmith - Crazy
Live - Selling the Drama

Too many to list, but here's an accurate sample size:

Stavesacre: Loader, Anna Thema, At the Moment, Suffocate, Colt .45, Acquiesce, An Eclipsing, **The Two Heavens**, and pretty much everything they put out, mostly due to Salomon's lyrical prowess (in my estimation).

Randy Travis: He Walked on Water, Heroes and Friends, Better Class of Losers, If I Didn't Have You

All Star United: La La Land, Smash Hit
Travis Tritt: Anymore

Blackball: Everybody Wants to Get Over It

Confederate Railroad: She Took it Like a Man, The Big One, She Never Cried When Old Yeller Died

Crash Test Dummies: Superman's Song

Doug Stone: I'd Be Better Off (In a Pine Box)

Johnny Q. Public: Women of Zion, Big Top

Leaderdogs for the Blind: Yellow & Black Attack, Lemonade, Martin's Dream

Dwight Yoakam: Home for Sale, This Time, A Thousand Miles from Nowhere

Plankeye: Dichotomy, Wings to Fly, Tonight, Boy, Open House, Someday, Playground,

Diamon Rio: You're Gone, Norma Jean Riley

Just too many to name.

Why have I not heard of most of them?

Why have I not heard of most of them?
I lack the omniscience needed to answer this question adequately. :pilgrim:

That said, on the one hand, the 90s were a time when some country music coming out was still tolerable. On the other hand, many of the bands I listened to which were not country were not well known, and my tastes were not commensurate with most of the popular stuff of the time.

Scott Reeder from Smile played drums on my band's (Volume- Requesting Permission To Land) album back in 2002.
Interesting. I remember hearing the song on my local hard rock station and immediately getting their album. I recently rediscovered this tune and it still really holds up. Pretty good musicianship as far as my untrained ear can tell. I remember their album cover art not fitting their style of music to the point that I thought I had the wrong band. I think little things like that could hurt a new band trying to make it.

And on the often occasion I find myself driving through miles of farm land I pick the below. Don’t hurt me :hunter:as it has to be 90s. I’m a Johnny Cash man otherwise (I hung my head):

P.S. In all seriousness, I think Our Lady Peace takes the cake:detective:
