The combined summary of the "Gospel" in Mark?

My family and I read through Mark last night in one sitting, and if I had to sum up the big picture it was this:
1. Jesus performed many miracles empowered by God
2. Jesus requires faith to be part of the kingdom
3. Jesus requires 100% of the hearts of his followers as they follow him in faith
4. Jesus doesn't sit well with hypocrites
5. His death and resurrection is of the utmost importance

Indeed we see that Jesus said “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel.”, but its almost just assumed that the readers knew what the "kingdom" was about. In other words, the "kingdom" is the point of the Gospel, but there isn't much on the "Kingdom" as far as REASONS for it.

Anybody have any thoughts?

I hope your family study included Mark 16:9-20. :)

Some things about Mark worthy of note:

Jesus Christ
Jesus Christ alone is the Son of God. In Mark, Jesus demonstrates his divinity by overcoming disease, demons, and death. Although he had the power to be king of the earth, Jesus chose to obey the Father and die for us.

Servant
As the Messiah, Jesus fulfilled the prophecies of the Old Testament by coming to earth. He did not come as a conquering king; he came as a servant. He helped people by telling them about God and healing them. Even more, by giving his life as a sacrifice for sin, he performed the ultimate act of service

Miracles
Mark records more of Jesus’ miracle than sermons. Jesus is clearly a man of power and action, not just words. Jesus performed miracles to convince the people who he was and to confirm to the disciples his true identity—God.

Spread of the Gospel
Jesus directed his public ministry to the Jews first. When the Jewish leaders opposed him, Jesus also went to the non-Jewish world, healing and preaching. Roman soldiers, Syrians, and other Gentiles heard the Good News. Many believed and followed him. Jesus’ final message to his disciples challenged them to go into all the world and preach the gospel of salvation.

Key Characteristics of Our Lord on Display in Mark's Gospel
Jesus is the Son of God Mark 1:1
Jesus is the Christ, the Messiah Mark 14:61-62
Jesus has power to forgive sins Mark 2:9-12
Jesus has authority over death Mark 5:22-24, 35-42
Jesus healed the sick Mark 1:32-34
Jesus taught with authority Mark 1:21-22
Jesus was compassionate Mark 1:41; 8:2

For fun, attached is a list of hapex legomena appearing in Mark based upon NA28.

Awesome, as usual, response. Great overview (and in bullet point form - my favorite!!!!!). I for sure picked up on those things worthy of note you mentioned, but not really your "Spread the Gospel" part, but that's right!!!

As far as the actual spoke message of Jesus, I found it a bit glanced over, again, almost assumed. It is the Kingdom no doubt, but not much definition of the nature of the Kingdom itself, and why His followers should embrace Him and the Kingdom beyond the fact that He is the one prophesied and that there is a hell to shun and the reality of a resurrection.

What is a hapex legomena?

A term only appearing once in the NT or the OT, depending upon which is being discussed. The words in the attachment only appear in Mark's Gospel and not elsewhere in the NT.
Awesome! Are there an examples of helpful entries on this one you provided?

The fun is in the investigation of the list. For example, Mark 12:13 uses agreuo, translated as "catch" or "trap". The verb relates to taking by hunting, as in some violent pursuit. Clearly the game being played by the Pharisees and Herodians was deadly.
