Since this article is an update of stuff Andy Webb and I have had up a while and since the day falls on the Lord's day this year, I am making this freely available.

On page 176, there is a quote by Fesko, comparing the endless church calendar cycle of Advent, Xmas, Epiphany, Lent, Easter, etc. to the pagan cyclical view of history. Do you think we now have a weekly cycle as well? As more and more OPC, PCA, URC churches add weekly absolution and communion to their liturgical order of worship it looks more roman or pagan to me with this weekly cycle of coming to church to get the grace by being absolved at the beginning working your way through the liturgy to communion at the end and starting over again, week after week, 52 times a year. Do you think this weekly liturgical cycle is similar to the church calendar?

What are you asking? The weekly sabbath or Lord's day is prescribed by the Lord as a one day of seven appointed for public worship. This other (xmas, etc.) is simply a monument of idolatry of days that man decided were some way holy.

I've been searching regarding the issues of Christmas and EP, and I've almost had no choice but to keep it private. If anyone gets wind of the idea, they assume I'm a.) reverting to legalism, b.) eyeing a cult, c.) a blasphemer.

Thanks for the resource, Chris.
