What are your thoughts on this quote from John McNaugher's book the Psalms in Worship

Whatever is not commanded is forbidden...

Accurate and much-needed.

I think it is one thing to say, "we only do what scripture commends in our worship," but it is an entirely different thing to say "If scripture doesn't commend it, then it is forbidden." To my mind the RPW is a positive exhortation, not a negative one!

What texts does he use to support the strenght of this conclsion?
