I read some of the Rabbit series, but it's been so long I can barely remember it.

If I remember correctly, he was raised in a reformed home of some-sort. About 10 years ago he was at the Festival of Faith and Writing and someone pressed him on his faith and he would not go into details; but if memory serves- he has a Reformed or conservative Lutheran background.
