How many cups have Calgary won? How many cups has Vancouver won? Sorry, I didn't hear you because my ears are full of Lord Stanley :p

The Edmonton Oilers have more cups than any other team except those that compose the original six!

Oh, and we have the second most Grey Cups right behind Toronto :p

Proud citizen of the City of Champions, in the Land of Oil Country, and a pilgrim in the unholy land of the Orca!

Vancouver has wanted to win more Cups than Edmonton. Does that count?

It looks like Vancouver should want it a little more this year because now they are in danger of not making the playoffs!

It's like the life has just been sucked out of this city :p You should have heard the radio after their loss to Minnesota last night! Intense.

I listened to the Oilers game last night as well. Stupid Burnaby Joe!!!!!!!!! GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!

FYI, I will be cheering for Edmonton tonight against Calgary.

Where do you live in Surrey? I grew up in Surrey and now live in Leduc.

I live in South Surrey, off of route 10 and near 152st. So I am west of Cloverdale and north of White Rock.

The church I am at is the Korean church in Surrey off of Highway 1 right before the Port Mann bridge. Maybe you've seen it?

And that Calgary/Edmonton game was awesome!! It's frustrating thought that I have to listen to the games on the internet using 630 CHED's online feed.

The hockey being played right now is just like playoff hockey: super intense! I love it!

I grew up about 10 minutes from there. I believe I have seen your church as well.

I thought the game was a little tedious until the third period. I also listen to most games since I don't have a tv.

San Jose has been on a run since before they acquired defenseman Brian Campbell from my beloved Sabres at the trading deadline. They've been unstoppable since then, and that's why I'm picking the Sharks from the West and the Pens from the East.

Could they do what the California Golden Seals were unable to do all those eons ago?

There is no way that I would pick Ottawa. They are having way too many issues in the dressing room, and Ray Emery has been having a plethora of on and off ice issues this season. They had a spectacular start to the season, but firing John Paddock has not improved their lot.

Pens Beat Devils 2-0!!!!!

Yes this was big. That Islander game though… that worried me. The Pens can look so good and then they all of a sudden crumble against a bad team with a backup goalie. Even last night – if it wasn’t for Fleury being phenomenal, they could have very well lost. I mean they only scored one goal really (just like the night before); Hossa’s empty netter was insurance. So overall they are in a good place to be right now, but they worry me nonetheless. Just as long as they find a way to win and do so come playoff time.

I will take the Bruins in the playoffs any day. As I already said the Senators and the Flyers scare me. Although we have had our share of problems with Boston this year too; it should be fun.
Wow! You really live in enemy territory. I have to wonder if you've gone to any Hurricanes games since you live in the Raleigh area.

That's ok. My Sabres and the Hurricanes have a real hate toward each other.

Yes, in fact I was just at the Caps/Canes game last week. I see the Pens play their two games here every season (which since I moved here in fall of 2006, the Pens have lost all four games at the RBC center!). I live only 10 miles from the arena so I catch several games during the season. Sometimes I get invited to a local companies box suite, sometimes by a season ticket holder in the office and sometimes I just go to see some hockey with my kids. But I splurge on the good seats when Pittsburgh is in town. There are a lot of fans down here so I am not too alone.

I am just waiting for the day when I will actually see them win in Raleigh....

Next season in addition to the local Carolina games I am considering making the trip to DC to see the two road games against the Caps. The Caps fans resent the fact that there are just as many Pittsburgh fans at those games as Capital fans :)

Chris, take a look at this thread: Cane hate? - SabreSpace.com Forums

BTW, I know this is slightly :offtopic:, but there are three guys I wish were still playing for the Sabres: Rob Ray (retired about 4-5 years ago), Brad May (still with the Ducks), and Matthew Barnaby (retired last year). I call them the Sabres' version of the Hanson brothers.

Great series! Who would have thought the pass happy pens who were notoriously out shot in most games during regular season would out shoot Ottawa in a four game sweep! Including a Pens record 54 shots on goal in game 2! 16 goals to 5 - Incredible! Great retribution for the embarrassment of last year's first round against Ottawa. :cheers2:

Now we wait (and the team rests) for some tougher opponents.

San Jose you say, I seem to recollect them falling to those hapless Dallas Stars.:smug::sing:

Wife says Detroit. She's a Red Wings fan. Do they still throw the octopus on the ice??

At least hockey player dress modestly!!

Glad to hear of another Wings fan out there... (A "high-five" to your wife!)

Technically, you are not allowed to enter the Joe Louis Arena with an octopus, alive or dead, on your person. Signs to that effect are posted. If you get past the security guys with one, however, and if you throw it onto the ice, even between periods, you get ejected from "the Joe," as we call it.

Earlier today I posted a video that shows someone throwing an octopus on the ice, I think on another thread. When the Wings still played at Olympia and I was little (around 9 or 10), I was sitting in front of someone who took a small octopus out of a jar that was in his coat pocket - and heaved it towards center ice between periods. It was a beautiful sight to see, although it did require some clean-up. But then, I had a great-uncle who used to work for the Red Wings and it was he who was responsible for maintaining the ice at Olympia.

It's a lovely tradition here with a lot of sentimental value to it.

Thanks Galations 220!! I did high five my wife.

Go Detroit!!

And are we two happy ladies now?! :)

You cannot argue with SIX consecutive shut-out periods of a team as fine as the Penguins! This may just be the Wings' year!

Of course, as the Wings next go to Pittsburgh, I could be eating my words in a few days,* but still... :wow: We watched every minute of that game last night and were delighted each time that a smuggled-in octopus hit the ice!

Margaret

*no problem, as long as I'm eating them along with a Reuben and seasoned fries at Hockeytown, right across from Comerica Park & not far from the Joe... :)

It ain't over till it its over.

Based on their performance in Detroit, I think the fat lady is tuning up! The Pens need to take a lesson from the Stars and get their defensemen into the offensive flow and stand up at the blue line or the Wings are going to continue to school'em!
