But because the Word of God is true of itself (since it is not measured by things, but things are true in the measure that they are similar to the Word) the Word of God is truth itself. And because no one can know the truth unless he adheres to the truth, it is necessary that anyone who desires to know the truth adhere to this Word.

Thomas Aquinas, Super Evangelium S. Ioannis Lectura (1270-72), C14.L2.n1869.

I think it should be pointed out though that if Thomas truly believed what he stated above, he would have never adopted a lot of the traditions he did. He also would not have helped develop the foundations of many of the current Romanist errors and false teachings.

Yes and no. Thomas says the Scripture is the only rule of faith, and as far as I know he's sincere about that, but he believes that the proper determination as to what Scripture teaches can only come from the Church.
So in practice Church tradition gets in through the back door.
Augustine is a lot stronger than Thomas on this point, since Augustine teaches Scripture must be interpreted according to Scripture, with the clearer passages interpreting the more obscure ones.

This adds very important context to the above quote. Thank you. Definitely not sola scriptura in any case.
