I received an email from Banner of Truth to say their new reprint of Vos' sermons "Grace and Glory" is now available. The Banner edition is unique. In addition to the six sermons which originally constituted the volume Grace and Glory the Banner edition includes a further nine sermons which Vos preached in the Chapel of Princeton Theological Seminary between 1896 and 1913, as well as an undated exposition of Ephesians 2:4, 5 translated from Dutch.

Thanks for the link, this is a great collection, very glad it is being reprinted.

There have been two modern editions of Grace & Glory. Banner had an older publication that included the extra sermons, which this edition has plus a newly translated exposition of Ephesians 2:4-5 and an introduction by Sinclair Ferguson. There is also Solid Ground's edition with only the original six sermons.

Our shipment arrived yesterday, along with Robert Traill's works and Alexander's Thoughts on Religious Experience. The new edition is typical of Banner's quality.

I was up late last night reading "Rabboni." It is a beautiful sermon that is unlike Vos's other material.

Machen was in attendance for "Rabboni." He wrote to his mother the following:

We heard this morning one of the finest expository sermons I ever heard. It was preached by Dr. Vos, professor of Biblical Theology in the Seminary. It rather surprised me. He is usually too severely theological for Sunday morning. Today, he was nothing less than inspiring. His subject was Christ’s appearance to Mary after the resurrection. Dr. Vos differs from some theological professors in having a better developed bump of reverence.

We will have all the above-mentioned titles on sale today.

That is interesting. I was aware of the older Banner edition but I thought it had the same number of sermons?

As noted above the Reformed forum have an excellent discussion of this sermon. I enjoyed it very much.

I looked on the RHB website but did not see a sale notice. I do look for sales for good books as it can be expensive buying books in my country :)

By original do you mean the 6 original 1922 sermons?
I finally found my copy -- yes, it had six sermons.
You read Dutch?
Well, the sermons in my volume were preached at Princeton, so unless those poor fellows had to learn Dutch as a prerequisite to worship, the volume is in its original. :)

Rabboni is one of my favorite sermons of all times. In all the Princeton sermons, Professor Vos seemed to have an incredible heart for the students in chapel. They are different from his other works because they served a different function. In a sliding progression, the sermons have the most appeal for an ordinary Christian, his full length works are lucid with some effort, and the scholarly writings for journals are the most dense, but even in my less-educated hands are worth the effort.
