Greetings,

I plan to buy some things from Ligonier, specifically I am planning to buy A Survey of Church History by Robert Godfrey, a few tape series by R.C. Sproul. I want to get a book by Peter Jones but I don't know which one to get. I am leaning towards Only 2 religions. Thoughts?

I perused Jones' "Gnostic Empire Strikes Back" when I was prepping a Sunday School class on Gnosticism. I wasn't seeing the connections he was making between Gnosticism and the New Age movement based on what I was learning about Gnosticism in other resources. It was kind of a head scratcher but maybe I was missing something...

If you follow/like his blog, I think you'll see the themes he presents there well represented in his books. I think you probably can't go wrong with the suggestions made above.

I read God of Sex, but might be better as a borrow than a purchase.

Incidentally, I met him in Cochabamba when he was in Bolivia doing some training for pastors. I had no idea who he was a the time, just that a Dr. Pedro Jones was going to give a few talks to the MTW church plant I was attending.

Alright, that's my name drop for the day! Thanks!

Thanks for all the advice, and yes I did say tape series. I am so old I remember when you had to get up to change the TV channel.
It was a cheap shot. Like me it sounds like you were the remote as a kid! Since there were only four channels counting pbs I didn’t have to stand up their for long.

I love Peter Jones’ blog offerings and watched his only 2 religions video series on You Tube.... which was probably not proper as far as copyright concerns.... it was pretty fascinating nonetheless
