    Smile Hello From Springfield, MO

Hi, my name is Andy Eppard. I have been on the Puritan Board for a few weeks now and have really been enjoying it. I have been reading threads for a few years now and have appreciated the discussions. I look forward to talking about the deep things of God as well as relative and practical questions.

Hey, I've got supporting churches down in Springfield, Missouri - there are several churches that preach the doctrines of grace that I would recommend.

"If a commission by an earthly king is considered a honor, how can a commission by a Heavenly King be considered a sacrifice?"

    Welcome, pastor!

Our fair morning is at hand, the daystar is near the rising, and we are not many miles from home; what matters the ill entertainment in the smoky inns of this miserable life? We are not to stay here, and we will be dearly welcome to Him whom we go to. --The Loveliness of Christ, Samuel Rutherford

‎‎""The Christian religion is the religion of sinners, of such as have sinned, and in whom sin in some measure still dwells. The Christian life is a life of continued repentance, humiliation for and mortification of sin, of continual faith in, thankfulness for, and love to the Redeemer, and hopeful joyful expectation of a day of glorious redemption, in which the believer shall be fully and finally acquitted, and sin abolished for ever."

"To doubt God’s mercy because our faith is feeble, is rather to rely upon our faith than upon the Lord. It is not the excellency and great measure of faith that makes us righteous before God, but Christ whom faith does receive and apprehend: which a weak faith can do as well as the strongest.” - John Ball (Puritan)

Good to have you here. My husband and I both graduated from Evangel College (University) in the early 90's and have since come over to the "dark side" . We miss McSalty's Pizza and Andy's Frozen Custard! Is Kim's Korean BBQ still around? Mmmmmm. Such memories.

    A church on every corner

That was my impression of Spgfld when I went to BBC there in the early '70s. I met my wife there. Is Queen City Flour Co. still there? Max Hawkins used to run it. He loaned Puritan books out on the side. It was off limits to BBC students. Go figure.

About us
The PuritanBoard exists to promote robust discussion of theology in a Confessionally Reformed context. The modern trend of short statements of faith belies the many places where the Scriptures teach with great clarity. Though our respective Reformed confessions sometimes disagree, we believe that Churches have been given the gifts of teachers and elders to lead to the unity of the faith and the result of that unity is a Confessional Church confessing together: "This is what the Scriptures teach." The Confessions are secondary to the authority of Scripture itself but they arise out of Scripture as a standard exposition of the Word of God.
