The Monstrous Regiment of Women

Recently I watched the new Gunn brothers' DVD The Monstrous Regiment of Women and was discouraged by the reality of what has happened due to the pervasive influence of feminism in our culture, yet encouraged by the Christian ladies who so articulately and clearly defended God's truth against the onslaught of such femi-nazi non-sense.

The interviewees were prime examples of godly, biblical, Christian ladies who seek to exemplify the Proverbs 31 Woman. Some of them are authors who write about the importance of being a biblical wife and mother, and who also give practical advice in doing so. Stacy McDonald (author of Raising Maidens of VirtueRaising Maidens of Virtue ) and Jennie Chancey (from http://www.ladiesagainstfeminism.com) are two amongst them. Their advice is much needed in this day, and I'm thankful for their contributions.

The Gunn Brothers did an excellent job in documenting from a Christian perspective how feminism has had a devastating impact on the church, state, and family. Subjects covered include feminism and socialism, women in the military, modesty, women in the workplace, daycare, Margaret Sanger, abortion, Planned Parenthood, Hillary Clinton, birth control, Betty Friedan, and the woman's role in the family. This film served as a great encouragement not only for its exposé of the Feminist agenda, but its call for Christian wives and mothers to return to their honorable roles as defined in Scripture.

I think that this film is a breath of fresh air to those of us who are made to feel menial for pursuing such a biblical call, and serves as an encouragement for us to indeed fulfill the high calling of "keepers at home."

Jess,

I share your enthusiasm for this documentary by the Gunns. It was also an encouragement to the men out there who want to be godly husbands and biblical fathers.

I was particularly touched (and disgusted) by the portion concerning Abortion. Oh the wickedness of our country! This definitely brought me to a further realization that I need to pray on behalf of my nation, as Daniel prayed on behalf of his.

God have mercy on us.

Thanks for the review, Ma’am.

I see from the trailer that Jenney Chancey is one of the interviewees. She and her husband Matt are wonderful folks. They were members of my old Church some 10 years ago shortly after their marriage, and I remember the birth of their first and second children. Haven't been in contact since I think around 2000, but I've seen some of her writings and she's a smart, committed sister in the Lord. We're ordering a copy.

I will have to get this for our church library.

BTW, it received the 'Best of Festival' award at the 2007 San Antonio Independant Christian Film Festival. And it was runner-up in the 'Documentary' category.

I viewed it with my wife and teenage daughter. 12 years of California schools raised some questions in my daughter's mind, even though she is a "feminism is stupid"/"abortion is murder" conservative. My wife and I enjoyed it greatly and were able to engage in a super conversation with our daughter about God's plan for marriage and society.
