Went to see Jay P. Green Jr. today

Jr's. Dad Jay P. Green Sr. Passed away May 20th 2008. In Memory of J. Green Sr. I lost contact with them a few years ago. I found Jay again in Mulberry, Indiana just southeast of Lafayette. I got up this morning and decided to take a trip and see how he has been doing.

I got there and found that he had his Dad's library and many other gems on the shelf. While rummaging through the stuff I found a newer book by Beeke on 'Reformed Spirituality', a hardback of John Gills 'Cause of God and Truth', and something that I have been wanting, 'The Marrow of Modern Divinity in two Parts' published by Still Water Revival Books. The two parts are Pt. 1, the Covenant of Works & The Covenant of Grace and Pt. II is 'An Exposition of the Ten Commandments' by Edward Fisher with notes by Thomas Boston. It is a numbered collectors Edition, number 685 of 1100.

Can someone tell me why this book was considered heterodox by some Presbyterians? I just recently ordered a copy of it from Westminster Bookstore. It hasn't arrived yet so I don't know the differences between them but I am anxious to dive into it. I recently downloaded Sinclair Ferguson's 3 part series on it. SermonAudio.com - Sermon Series Marrow of Modern Divinity I haven't had a chance to hear all three lectures. I have listened to the first one.

Thanks guys,
R.

Re: Marrow Controversy
I believe it has to do with hyper-calvinism and the free offer of the gospel.
You've probably heard Ferguson's series from '04
SermonAudio.com - Greenville Seminary & Mt. Olive
or '07
SermonAudio.com - Sermon Series Marrow of Modern Divinity
Joel Beeke also did a series in '04 "The Erksine's and the Marrow Controversy"
SermonAudio.com - Sermon Series Erskines & Marrow Controversy
This is Phil Ryken's intro to the book
The Marrow of Modern Divinity - Reformation21
and PB's own Todd Pedlar did a blog post about it

I would love to see Green's Modern KJV back in print.

Jay still has them. You can still get them along with the Literal Version.
