Manly Dominion

I picked this up last night (and met the author). Read the first chapter on what it means to take dominion and bear rule before going to bed; looks like the kind of book I really enjoy.

There is not much Practical Christianity in the UK Reformed scene, so a book like this is very refreshing.

Is the purple four ball somehow feminine? A sissy poolball, not like that macho black 8 ball?

What's up with the weird title?

A four-ball in billiards is passive; most men, instead of exercising godly dominion, are just a bunch of cissies who are pushed around by others while they hide behind a television screen.

Thanks, Daniel for the recommendation. It is difficult to find good books on this subject. There are too many men who have given up their role to a feminized culture and church.

Exactly. More often than not Christian parents are bringing up "males" not men. Of course this is hardly surprising since they have probably had fathers who are "males" rather than real men. The only other book I know of on this theme is Doug Wilson's Future Men, though this one seems to be aimed more at grown males rather than how to bring up boys to be men.

Thumbs up

Manly Dominion by Pastor Chanski is a well balanced great book on Biblical Manliness and Biblical Patriarchy....

His views on Patriarchy are well balanced and not overly extreme or uber patriarchy like Lindvall, Phillips, and Wilson.....

It also covers Husbandry, Child Rearing, Man's Labor, Churchmanship, Wisdom, Father Giving Daughters away in Marriage in a biblical approach, Decision Making, etc...

This book deserves 11 thumbs up out of a 10 thumb rating....
