Instrumental Music in the Public Worship of God

Finally got John L. Girardeau's book sent to me on Thursday; anyone read it?

I am in the middle of studying it right now. I like Girardeau's style in that he simply states the text and explains the text. He is very comprehensive.

I am creating an RPW journal Bible using the ESV Journaling Bible where I dedicate that particular bible to only one topic highlighting applicable verses and putting the explanation of the text in the notes margins. Girardeau will be my primary source for the instruments component of the RPW; however, I will be using others as well were they may have different or more expansive points.

Enjoy

I have it and read it some time ago. I agree with Chris' assessment.

I have several modern reprints of this particular work. It is really great to see it so accessible in our day.

Daniel -- Do you also have John Price's
? It's very good.

Yeah, I read that one a couple of years ago; its quoted in my book a couple of times. A very good, comprehensive modern work in my estimation. I doubt it will ever be answered. Its also great to have a Reformed Baptist author writing on such themes to bring them to a wider audience.

It can also be read online here for those who don't have the book.

Not for NI readers - we have to pay huge shipping rates for stuff from the USA.
