Ben,
Erin just finished reading my copy, and now Christine is reading it. You will benefit greatly from Brooks!

Great book and so rich I always found you could not read more than a few pages at a time as there was just so much in it and so many quotable quotes. I read it about 20 years ago and reread it again last year.
Anything by Brooks is tremendous and well worth a read. If you can get hold of his 6 vol works then grab them. Even reading the index is appetising.

If you read the Puritan Paperbacks you can count on a great increased devotion to our Lord deep within your soul! I have many of them and have experienced great blessings from such wonderful reading!
Owens, The Mortification of Sin is really good as is his Apostasy from the Gospel
The Bruised Reed by Richard Sibbes and The Doctrine of Repentance by Thomas Watson are also great. Prayer by John Bunyan is good as well.
As you read one then buy another and collect them! There is no better reading by the puritans!
You are beginning with one of the best! Enjoy!

The quote is by Brooks... it's from another book on Prayer titled "The Privy Key of Heaven" also known as "A Discourse of Closet Prayer". I highly recommend this book as well!

Congrats Ben! I too really appreciate the "Puritan Paperbacks." I haven't read this one, but I am adding it to my list.

I so loved that book. What a blessing that was to me, and I'm sure it will be to you.
