God, as a righteous Judge, does it, which ought to silence us under all our sorrows; as many as they are, we have deserved them all, and more: nay, God, as a tender Father, does it for our necessary correction, that we may be humbled for sin, and weaned from the world by all our sorrows; and the good we get by them, with the comfort we have under them, will abundantly balance our sorrows, how greatly soever they are multiplied. - Matthew Henry | | The Following User Says Thank You to Joshua For This Useful Post: | |

I am SOOOOOO jealous. If I could have any one book, that would be it. Congrats! (And who is your gift-giving friend and how can I let him/her know when my birthday is? )

Josh.....it's a great resource. You will have a heck of a time with this text.
From the language to the type size it's a great challenge.

D'Aubigne is my kind of historian. He looks at the data carefully and evaluates the sources, but does so from a perspective of faith as a believer. In other words, he does not excise the supernatural from the realm of human affairs. I LOVED reading it!!! Congrats on the belated gift and the opportunity to be blessed with considering afresh the faith of the fathers of the Reformation.
