Can't say I have; but I have heard that Alistair Begg is a very good man, and Derek Prime has written some useful commentaries.

Well, I suppose so if what I perceive as an inward call is affirmed by the Church and Ministers therein, D.V.

I have not read it but I intend to. I think you'll find the book helpful, Josh. I like Begg.

Thanks for reminding me of this title. I went to Amazon and bought it.

Here's the correct link:

Josh,

Here is a place where you can cut through some of the red tape . . .

Very perceptive. I too was wondering how Ron Paul fit into the discussion. Another mystery solved.

I got that book at a going-out-of-business sale the day before I was installed as a pastor. I really enjoyed it. The book was very practical, and well written; you can clearly see the influence of each author. I've been considering reading it again since it's been almost two years.

As I recall, there is a focus in this book on not being a "professional" but rather a man called of God for a very unique tasking. That theme is expanded on by John Piper in his "Brothers, We Are Not Professionals" if you are interested.
