| | | Haven't read it, but it is a very standard historical-critical commentary. It is also extremely technical. Longman notes that it is only for the extremely serious biblical scholar, though he gives it fairly good marks. | | The Following User Says Thank You to greenbaggins For This Useful Post: | |

| | My copy arrived today, it looks very good and detailed. The Hebrew is unpointed and a large amount is untranslated which, for me, is great as I can increase my vocab as I go!! When I get through it I will post a review....but that may be some time |

Talking to oneself is, I believe, considered a sign of lunacy. Thinking to oneself is most certainly a sign of it. - G. K. Chesterton (1874-1936), in January, 1906

| | | My favourite quote thus far:
“If we approach the OT Psalms with the question where one should look for and find the God of Israel whom the hymns and songs of thanksgiving glorify, on whom the laments call, and whom all the songs and poems involve, the unanimous, never doubted, and ceaselessly expressed answer is: Yahweh Sebaoth is present in the sanctuary in Jerusalem. Zion is the place of God’s presence.” - Kraus, H-J. (1988) Psalms 1-59. Fortress Press pp. 6 |

| | | Richard,
Did you get his Theology of the Psalms as well? I ask because when I used his commentary I found it helpful to understand both his synthetic and analytic views.

| | | I have been reading Kraus on the enthronement psalms (as I am working on an articles about them) and he drew my attention to the fact that the singer of Psalm 98 takes upon his lips the eschatological message of Isaiah of a second-exodus. When he pointed this out a number of things fell into place....any way I got excited! | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
