Originally published in 1855 by the Rev. James Morgan (1799 - August 5, 1873) of Fisherwick Place Presbyterian Church in Belfast as a series of meditations on Psalm 51 for personal use, his congregation gave him a month's leave and the result was a deeply spiritual exposition that was republished by
Tentmaker Publications in 2004. Charles Spurgeon says:
