Carson, D. A. New Bible Commentary: 21st Century Edition. 4th ed. Leicester, England; Downers Grove, Ill., USA: Inter-Varsity Press, 1994.
Other editors include: R. T. France, J. A. Motyer, G. J. Wenham
I do not know much about D. A. Carson or the rest of these guys. Does anyone know if this commentary is very profitable?
Any comment regarding the editors or the commentary would be greatly appreciated.

One volume commentaries have their niche. They will never be expansive enough to be "helpful" for some uses (e.g., preaching a year on Ephesians). They can be of great use in doing a quick look at a larger block of material where you do not have the time to read an entire volume on your section (e.g., Lloyd-Jones on Romans, Ephesians, or the Sermon on the Mount).
Carson is a solid evangelical with soteriologically Calvinist convictions. IVP has a tendency to be "edgy" these days, including contributors to books and publishing books that push the edge of the envelope. This one is full of great scholars, however. T. Desmond Alexander, George R. Beasley-Murray, D.A. Carson, Richard T. France, Donald Guthrie, Gordon P. Hugenberger, Philip A. Jensen, J.A. Motyer, Moisés Silva, Douglas Stuart, Gordon J. Wenham, and others.
In the case of the 4th edition, it has some great evangelical scholars who have written full-length commentaries on the portions they were assigned (e.g., you get J Wenham on Genesis, Doug Moo on Romans, and Peter O'Brien on Colossians).
Some reviewers have carped that it is completely up-to-date on the scholarship, but a bit less devotional than the 3rd edition.

For a one-volume commentary, this is probably the best.
