Matthew Poole

Is it true that Matthew Poole wrote his commentary on the whole Bible
till the book of Acts, then he passed away?

Could someone let us know how is the quality of his commentary after
Acts compared with the one he wrote himself?

Thanks.

The work you are thinking of is Matthew Henry's commentary: he died after finishing Acts, and the rest of the work was finished by various ministers.

Matthew Poole completed his massive commentary on scripture, Synopsis Criticorum, but died while writing his much smaller English Annotations: I believe he was somewhere mid-Isaiah when he went to his rest, and again, the rest of the work was completed by others.

Paul thanks for your reply.

I mean his 3 volume "a commentary on the whole Bible",
I do learn from somewhere ( regrettably I don't remember
now) Matthew Henry and Matthew Poole finished their
commentary on Acts and other people took up the remaining
job.

Duncan, what you are calling his "commentary on the Whole Bible" is what is known as his English Annotations in the above post.
