F.L. Godet

A while back I had occasion to consult Godet on Romans 11, and found it quite helpful. Today I was looking through that commentary, and my hackles began to raise a little. I see he is billed as having been Reformed, but even that seems questionable.

What is your general impression of Godet? What problem areas do you know of in his thinking? So far I think I've encountered apparent universalism and a flawed Christology, though how deep the flaw goes I am not prepared to say.

I liked what I read of Godet's Romans, while I was in seminary. I just consulted him, I really didn't read him in depth. I would have thought that aberrations in his theology would have put him on the questionable list, if he strayed too far. But, ???
