Commentary on Jeremiah

I have Ian Duguid's commentary on Daniel. It is part of the Reformed Expository Commentary series. It is excellent. Is there a commentary on Jeremiah that would be from a similar style? Not short on exegesis but practical.

I have J.A. Thompson's commentary (part of the NICOT series) that I picked up $4 at a used book store a few years ago. It's good, but more of an exegetical commentary and not much in the way of practical application.

Please do not rub in that $4 price tag. I bought the whole set new- it was NOT $4.

Phil Ryken's Jeremiah from the "Preach the Word" series, similar vein.

Would this be the wrong time to say I bought the Deuteronomy commentary from the same set about 3 weeks ago for $4.98?

If I anything that approaches a hobby, it's perusing the shelves of used book stores looking for hidden treasures. The downside, though, is I had to settle for the old purplish looking cover, when the newer ones with the Magnificat-style covers is certainly more attractive.

Actually, the Magnificat is on the NICNT covers; what's on the NICOT covers?

Bill, the Ryken commentary will be excellent, and I would also highly recommend John Mackay's two volume series in the Mentor Commentary series: volume 1, volume 2. Dearman is also excellent, and quite a bit shorter.

I scrapped the bottom of the piggy bank and ordered Ryken's. My budget won't allow me to order MacKay's or Dearman's at this time.

I am reading Ryken's commentary on Jeremiah and Lamentations. One thing bugs me about his commentary. Why does he use the NIV? Duguid did it on his Daniel commentary. What is it with the NIV? Does Zondervan give these authors a kick back or something?
