Commentaries on Philippians

I am looking for a few good commentaries on Philippians. Any suggestions?

Probably the two best ones are:

O'Brien (NIGTC)

and

Fee (NICNT)

O'Brien is more academic, but I prefer Fee because his remains quite scholarly while being more pastoral than O'Brien.

Lightfoot is good.

Here are the ones recommended:

Paul's Letter To The Philippians (New International Commentary On The New Testament) - Gordon D. Fee

The Epistle To The Philippians: A Commentary On The Greek Text (New International Greek Testament Commentary) - Peter T. O'Brien

I have both. They are both helpful, although I am not the biggest fan of Fee.

Here are a couple other excellent ones:
  • The Epistle To Philippians - Markus Bockmuehl
  • Let's Study Philippians (Let's Study Series) - Sinclair B. Ferguson
  • The Message Of Philippians: Jesus Our Joy (Bible Speaks Today) - J. A. Motyer (Motyer is excellent!)
  • Philippians, (Baker Exegetical Commentary On The New Testament) - Moisés Silva

As ususual, Fred captures what I would say . . . before I get to it! Fee is good but some of his idiosyncratic views are frustrating (cf. his view of the textual issues in 1 Corinthians on women's submission). O'Brien is a solid scholarly commentary. Motyer is almost always great. Silva was a wonderful prof and an helpful writer of commentaries.

But comeon . . . no Wesley or Beet?
