Boice's Expositional Commentaries

I know NOTHING about Boice as far as if he is good to use in sermons or seminary papers or anything. If I use him as a resource in a paper, am I going to be marked off for using a non-scholarly/non-technical resource? Is anything in his writings technical? What are your observations or recommendations?
They're $189 for 27 vols. on academic discount from logos, $280 if you don't qualify for that discount. Worth the buy?

Definitely worth the money. I am in seminary but have not used them in a paper. I am pretty sure you would not get "marked off" for using him but you might get "marked off" for using technical commentaries. In seminary you should be doing the exegetical work yourself and not rely on commentaries for exegetical papers.

I have used Boice profitably in sermon prep. He would definitely NOT be counted as a technical commentary.
