| | | Bible and Theological Dictionary
Well...I was going through some of my early purchases as a Christian and came across the Holman Bible Dictionary so I opened it up and quickly realized that this book did not belong in my library.
That being said I need a new bible and theological dictionary. Any advice on the best bang for my buck?
Thanks for the help

Maybe the Westminster Dictionary of Theological Terms by Donald McKim. You can get it for under $20 most places.

I've always like the New Bible Dictionary.
OK, be forewarned that there is a 2nd commandment violation on the cover of the 3rd edition, featured at the link. I have an earlier edition.
What were some of the problems with the Holman dictionary, Michael?

Thank you for the advice.
With the Holman dictionary, it was just very non reformed in its definitions and determinations. For instance its position on election and predestination were very shaky to put it lightly. It downplayed the importance of covenant and its significance in the New Testament, etc...
It imagine their is much that is ok in it but it comes from a very abhorent point of view best I can tell. Theological terminology would require a secondary text to keep it accountable which kinda defeats the purpose doesn't it?
Thats all I got right now -----Added 3/28/2009 at 07:50:52 EST----- Westminster Bookstore - Reformed Books - Low Prices - Flat Fee UPS Shipping - New Dictionary of Theology
How`s about this?

Michael, it looks like that one is going to be more of a theological dictionary than a Bible dictionary. What kind of info are you wanting to look up? The location of Tekoa or the meaning of "supralapsarian"?

Seriously, I will desire both but the bible dictionary is what I am seeking now. Thanks for the recommendation.
