My picks in bold.
Randy Couture Vs. Gabriel Gonzaga
Gonzaga is just too big, too young and too talented on the ground to allow Couture to take him down and control him. If Couture stands...well...we all know what happened to CroCop don't we. Roger Huerta Vs. Alberto Crane
Who is Alberto Crane? Huerta is a stud.
Josh Koscheck Vs. Georges St-Pierre
I pick GSP. It's not an easy fight to call considering GSP's flop against Serra and Koscheck doing the right thing with Sanchez by listening to his corner giving him the win. Fight fans know GSP will out strike Josh any day of the week...but didn't we also say the same thing when he fought Serra? Koscheck is probably the best wrestler in the biz, can he take GSP down? Can't wait to see the outcome. Kurt Pellegrino Vs. Joe Stevenson
Pellegrino puts on the heat better then Joe does, even with Stevenson's fast 1st round win in his last fight, I don't see him taking it. It's going to be a BJJ match.
Patrick Cote Vs. Kendall Grove
Cote looked great his last time out, but so did Grove. Grove has a better ground game and his reach is going to be hard for Cote to beat.
Ryan Jensen Vs. Travis Lutter
Not much to say.
Renato Sobral Vs. David Heath
I don’t know what’s been going on with Sobral, he had a good year before he fought Chuck and then he fell to Lambert, I don’t get it. Heath went 3 rounds with Machida so this fight should be good. Frank Mir Vs. Antoni Hardonk
Mir should be able to take Hardonk to the floor and sub him. Clay Guida Vs. Marcus Aurelio
Clay Guida put on an excellent performance in his last fight but he did what no fighter likes to do and he paid for it…he let the fight go to the judges. I pick Guida for the simple fact he’s no going to want to finish this fight fast. Aurelio is coming off a hard loss to Takanori Gomi, he not a new kid on the block and should put up a hard fight.
Peace,
j

I don't have picks, but NEVER underestimate Randy Couture, plus he's a Christian who gives Christ the glory. I would say he could also out wrestle Koscheck who I would like to see knock out GSP (but I doubt it). I think Frank Mir has lost it, I think he's done. Wouldn't surprise me to see him lose here.
I enjoy UFC and can't wait for this one.

I used to promote a fight show in Texas. I know Randy & Tito & a few others personally. I think Randy will take it. He's the Alpha male of the division (well unless you factor in Fedor). I thinkCro Cop would have destroyed Gonzaga if he's fought as he SHOULD have. It would have been a quick fight.
I also agree I think Mir is washed up. No discipline. The rest I don't honestly care for.

I agree with you, except for Couture, I love that guy.
Huerta is very impressive indeed.

Coincidentally Roger Huerta used to live here in the McAllen/Pharr are. Of course he has since moved. He never did fight for me as back then he was too young. Good to see his success. I hope he trains with great fighters.
I just read that Shogun Rua has signed to fight Forrest Griffin in September.

He seems to knock ya down and boot ya in the head which leads to the w. UFC buying Pride, I still can't believe it happened!

I think UFC buying Pride is the worst thing that could have happened. UFC is NOT very well run. I'm not saying Pride was but their fighters & fights were THE best. In the UFC you've got a lot of class b & c fighters whereas Pride was mostly Class A. I'm not thrilled about that at all. not sure how the stomping or lack thereof will come into play. You still have the forearms (elbows). I think the LHW division is stacked now with Shogun, Lig Nog, Tito, Rampage, Chuck etc. But I mean in all honestly Forrest Griffin & Rashad do NOT belong with that class. |

| I disagree and I think it's been proven false so far. The cage vs. ring is proving to be a bigger issue then what many Pride fighters [like CroCop] first thought. Even Fedor and his team has mentioned how there is a big difference. Quote:

I've gone back and watched Shogun's fights and even when he won again Rampage he had kicked Rampage in the head when he was down a couple of times. Once earlier in the round and couple of times before the ko.
The benefits far out weight the negatives of UFC buying Pride. Sure the fighters make a little less, sure the UFC is now top dog and folks don't seem to like Dana White but we can now see who the best really is. The rules are another issue, Pride vs. UFC? Which rules are the better set of rules?
Well, I could be wrong and often am.
