| | | NHL playoffs Who do you want to win vs. who you think will win: Eastern Conference
1) Devils vs. Lightning
I would like the Devils to win and I think they will pull it off. The Lightning offense is potent though!
2) Sabres vs. Islanders
I would like the Islanders to win (sorry Jason) but I am not really committed either way. I predict the Sabres will win though.
3) Senators vs. Penguins
Go Sens! (I always cheer for the Canadian teams first) I think they will pull it off if the Pens remain weak in the net and they can control Crosby and Malkin (tough to do though).
4) Thrashers vs. Rangers
I hope the Rangers win mainly because I think it is crazy to have teams as far south as Atlanta! I don't know who will win though. Western Conference
1) Canucks vs. Stars
My team! I think the Canucks will win the series but don't expect the Stars to role over and die. Luongo had better be sharp!
2) Ducks vs. Wild
Ugggh! I don't like either of these teams but I am guessing the Ducks will take the series.
3) Detroit vs. Flames
I hope the Flames win but I think that Detroit will win. Look to 'Kippers' to save the Flames from destruction if he unleashes his magic.
4) Predators vs. Sharks
Again, uggh! I predict the Predators only because they won their division.

I am fairly disappointed in the Canucks. Their play was sloppy and they lost many opportunities to score (such as taking a penalty when they had a power play). They also were overplayed! So far they haven't really shown any of the energy and exactness that won them the division title. I think if they lose the next game they are in real danger of losing the series!
Hopefully Ottawa wins again today. That will put me in a better mood! |

| | To think, last year my team was so good in the playoffs, and now, they aren't even there! Tis shame, tis shame!
Who do you want to win vs. who you think will win: Eastern Conference
1) Devils vs. Lightning
I want the Devils to win, and I think they will win.
2) Sabres vs. Islanders
I really like both of these teams. If either won, I would be happy. I think Buffalo will probably win.
3) Senators vs. Penguins
I also really like both of these teams. But, as a Canadian, I have to go for Ottawa first I think the Penguins will probably win.
4) Thrashers vs. Rangers
Don't really like either team. I guess I would prefer the Rangers as they are actually a hockey town. I think the Rangers can pull this one off. Western Conference
1) Canucks vs. Stars
Canucks all the way. They are my Stanley Cup finalist prediction, so they better win! The Stars are evil.
2) Ducks vs. Wild
I like both of these teams so so. I would be happy if either won. I think the Ducks will win.
3) Detroit vs. Flames
These are my two most hated teams in the NHL. I wish both of them could lose I think Detroit will win.
4) Predators vs. Sharks
I like Nashville. I think they will win.

| | The Stars are not evil, just American, Texan and Southern at that, peppered with an international squad. I know it must be baffling to see Dallas go to a third Stanley Cup in less than a decade . |

But you would already know this if you were a Canadian! |

Just look at what happens in the metropolitan areas after a Stanley Cup playoff series loss: the most rioting and violence since the Riel rebellions. |

We party, we have parades but outside of isolated incidents we don't riot, turn over cars or lynch the opposition like British and Italian soccer fans. |

However, I've noticed that ever since the Dallas Stars were given the Stanley Cup back in 1999, NO major Dallas sports franchise has won that franchise's given sports title.
If I were Dirk Nowitzki, I'd be asking Mark Cuban for a trade, because I certainly won't win a championship with the Dallas Mavericks -- just on account of all the Dallas sports franchises coming up short either in the regular season or the postseason since 2000.
Man, that skate in the crease has become a curse, hasn't it?

Man, that skate in the crease has become a curse, hasn't it? | I will laugh if Dallas sweeps through hockey, football and basketball this year because it will serve you right.
At least Dallas' fields competitive teams, which is more than I can say for Buffalo.
Still bitter about those Super Bowls I see. |

Nowhere have I ranted about those four Super Bowl losses. Those games were played fair and square.
If your teams win their respective championships without cheating (i.e. Brett Hull), then I mostly won't have a problem with it. Until then, |

Originally Posted by No Longer A Libertine I will laugh if Dallas sweeps through hockey, football and basketball this year because it will serve you right. | Basketball is boring. To me, it's a cure for insomnia. Pretty much the same for football (although I'm glad the Bills got rid of Willis "The Cad" McGahee. He was a PR disaster waiting to happen. At least seven women around Buffalo can't be wrong about this, amongst a few other selfish deeds.)
Back to the hockey playoffs: I haven't been able to see any of the games, and some of my friends on sabrespace.com have been saying that the coverage on Versus has been atrocious (when compared to the CBC's HNIC). Having said all that, though, the hockey pundits are stating that the Dallas Stars offensive scoring lines need to wake up or else it's going to be an early trip to the golf course. They've also said that it's not really Marty Turco's fault that he isn't winning.
So, if you think that the Stars are going to win it all, they're going to have to get past Vancouver. With guys like Luongo, the Sedin twins, Markus Naslund, and a coach like Alain Vigneault, it's not looking too good right now. Just keep chirping, because it may look like in the long run. |

There's no way they're going to come back from something like that heading into the Rangers own barn. AAMOF, they were slaughtered 7-0 last night.
Now the Rangers lead 3-0 going into tonight's game. Atlanta, you might want to get your Titleist ready for the greens.
Oh, and lest we forget our No Longer a Libertine, Vancouver leads Dallas 3-1. BTW, where are you? |

| | | On to the next round: Eastern Conference
1) Buffalo vs. Rangers
This should be an entertaining matchup. I really have no favorite here but I am guessing that Buffalo will win.
2) Devils vs. Senators
I am definitely rooting for the Senators. Look for Emery to stone the potent Devils offense. Western Conference
1) Anaheim vs. Canucks
I was so disappointed in my Canucks! I couldn't believe that they didn't even show up for game six. However Luongo kept them in the series and they came back to life in Game 7. Go Canucks!
2) Detroit vs. San Jose
I am rooting for Detroit but I am not really committed either way. I predict that Detroit will take the series. |
