NFC versus AFC!

Okay, there was another thread I did not want to jack, so here is my own! EVEN if your team is not in the Superbowl where do you stand on NFC , AFC? Look, my 'Skins are not in, but I have NEVER pulled AFC (sorry AFC folk) I JUST cannot do it! So here goes: the big poll:Are you AFC or NFC?

I almost always pull for the NFC. But I also have a penchant for pulling for the underdog too, as I did when New England beat the Rams a few years ago. The NFC used to just kill the AFC and IIRC beat them in the Super Bowl every season from 1984 until the Broncos broke through in 1997. With maybe two exceptions (49ers-Bengals and Giants-Bills) the games were blowouts. But the AFC has clearly had the upper hand in recent years.

Well there was a little part of me with New England a few years ago, BUT I am just NFC loyal I guess!

I don't really care which of the two conferences wins. I have teams that I like from either and sometimes pull for one or the other. This year, assuming the Patriots make it (very likely) then I'll be pulling for them.

I'm a Dallas Cowboys fan but my folks are both from Connecticut and my grandmother was a Patriots fan before they were good so I like them.

By the way, the cool thing about being in the Far East is that the Superbowl is on a Monday morning starting around 6am. We actually get the day off here and they have a nice brunch over at the O'Club so I won't have to worry about watching it on the Sabbath.

I used to support the 49ers - I liked American Football when I was younger, and enjoyed playing the Joe Montana and John Madden video games - however, I had to renounce them as the SF symbol on their merchandise looks like the symbol Sinn Fein use, and the reputation of San Francisco city puts me off.

And that very well may be my situation when #4 retires. #7 was really good, enjoyed his work on the field.

In Memory of Dallas Sports Franchises

It is yet another year when no major Dallas sports franchise has gone on to win the title in their respective sport. The Dallas Cowboys went down to defeat via the NY Giants, their perennial nemesis (not to mention their quarterback going to Mexico on vacation with Jessica "Yoko Romo" Simpson).

Thus, in memory of the season that was for the Dallas Cowboys, I am bringing back to life a song that is a bit of a twist of a Stompin' Tom Connors classic, "The Hockey Song (The Good Old Hockey Game)"

Oh, the good old hockey game
Is the best game you can name
And the best game you can name
Is the good old hockey game

1999 Cup Finals, 3rd OT, Dallas at Buffalo

Well, Brett Hull's skate was in the crease
When he scored that "No Goal"
They stole the Cup and took it down
To that Dallas Texas hole
They had their fill with that parade
While the Sabres were filled with rage
But that's ok, 'cause Dallas has
NO TITLES SINCE THAT DAY!!!

As for me, even though I'm not a big football fan, I normally root for the AFC.

All things being equal I go NFC. However if the AFC team is an underdog, or hasn't won for a long while, I tend to root for them.

After the Patriots cheating scandal earlier this season I am definitely going to be rooting against them this year if they make it.

Anybody vs Patriots (definitely)

Giants vs Chargers (leaning)

Green Bay vs Chargers (leaning)
