The Most Beautiful Sight In Sports

Ken Griffey Jr's swing. Turn off the sound as not to be distracted by the horrible background music.

I disagree. Steroids aside, Barry Bonds had a textbook, picture-perfect swing. That is the purdiest swing, IMO.

See, and he even swings more quickly than Griffey! Both of their swings are good. Unfortunately that second video of yours is not one of Barry's better swings (though it sure popped that ball nicely).

Maybe it is because I am a Marineer fan and am partial, but Griffey has the prettiest swing I have ever seen.

The most beautiful thing in sports in my opinion would be awesome table tennis rallies. I'm not talking about backyard ping pong but table tennis, which is extremely competitive and widely popular in much of Europe and Asia especially. North America is catching on but it has been slow. *sigh* My favorite players would be some of the most popular guys such as Liqin, Ma Lin, Primorac, Boll, Hao, etc.

Oh, and Michael Jordan was super fun to watch too. His buzzer shots were beautiful.

I thought it might be Francisco Cabrera's swing in the 1992 NLCS...

Griffeys swing hands down. Had it not been for the injury bug, we would have a much different look atop the all time home run leaders.

I still vote for Williams. His swing was perhaps the most efficient swing in the game. It might not be as 'poetic' in its motion, but it is classic, smooth, compact, consistent, and most of all effective.

If you like hitting you should read his book, The Science of Hitting. Not only is it a classic, it will pop your eyes open to what constitutes a good baseball swing. Griffey's swing contains almost all the elements. Almost.

Remember Bonds' old team mate in SF Will Clark? He was not a big HR hitter, but he had a beautiful swing.

I agree with Lawrence on this one.
I also must disqualify Bonds since he looks like he is going into battle with all of the protective gear he would wear and because he was a dead pull hitter.

Nope, not when he was young; at least not about his hitting. If I can find it I will find that quote in context. It is rather curious hyperbole.

The most beautiful sight in sports happened New Years day 1987, in Pasadena.

    Larger image here.

After the Sun Devils went 10-1-1 in the 1986 regular season, they then had to face Michigan in the Rose Bowl. A hard-fought battle went the Sun Devils’ way despite the fact that they were down early. The Devils won 22-15; quarterback Jeff Van Rapphorst was named MVP.

Funny Will Clark was mentioned. When I was a little kid at a Tigers game, we were jeering and taunting him as he warmed up. He didn't seem too happy. He proved it in the 4th inning when he jacked a homer within a few seats of us. Thankfully, my Tigers still won the game. But that was a moment for a kid, lol.

How absurd a tenet is this, which holdeth that there is some particular worship of God allowed, and not commanded? Who ever heard of commanded and allowed worship?

How absurd a tenet is this, which holdeth that there is some particular worship of God allowed, and not commanded? What new light is this which maketh all our divines to have been in the mist, who have acknowledged no worship of God, but that which God hath commanded? Who ever heard of commanded and allowed worship?
