| | | Jay Cutler is a Bear
Amazing how in one quick blink of an eye, the team is a major force. Not only that but the picked up Orlando Pace as well. Any Bears fans feelin the love out there? |

What did they have to give up to get Cutler?
Is it me, or does Cutler look constantly uphappy? Maybe the change of scenery will do him good.

They gave up a lot. A 1st rounder this year and next and a 3rd rounder and Kyle Orton.
How many times does a franchise quarterback like a Jay Cutler become available though? They had to go for it and I dont think many are disappointed by this one. This could change the Chicago franchise for decades. The kids 25.

Why would they have a bear playing on some sort of sports team? Is it a hunting thing? Are the bass stars of Bass Pro, or the anglers?
Yes, I am utterly sports clueless and have no idea what y'all are talking about.

I'm still not sold on Cutler. I used to see him play when he was at Vanderbilt in the SEC. He didn't have much around him then, and he is talented. But he doesn't seem to have that killer instinct that a QB needs. He will put up big numbers, and hopefully this will be the boost the Bears have needed at QB.
But he always seems so sad. Like he's in some kind of malaise. I hope he'll be happier in Chicago. I thought he was treated rudely in Denver. The guy put up bigger single-season numbers than Elway!

You know he was diagnosed diabetic. Wonder if that had anything to do with it? While there are certainly question marks, O my is this exciting for those who have suffered over the last 28 Bear starting qb`s

I hope the Bears get someone for him to throw the ball to. I am still not sure the Devin Hester is the #1 receiver they want him to be. But I will hope for the best because Chicago has had like 100 quarterbacks in the last twenty years.
Who else used to hate when the would show how many QB's started for tyhe Bears whils Brett Favre had his streak going?

I just wonder if there aren't other factors. It really makes me think that the combination of that the way he was treated in Denver didn't exactly make him Mr. Cheery. Plus, Philip Rivers (Mr. Jerky) kind of rode him hard in the division.
I'm sure he'll be a massive upgrade, the Bears will probably win the division, and he'll wind up being much much happier in Chicago. I wish him nothing but the best.

After much consideration, I've decided that y'all are talking about football and not basketball. I did think this was basketball at first, though.

Come on. Everybody knows the Bears need to start Adrian Peterson (not the Vikings Adrian Peterson -- the one who at one time was the leading career rusher in Division I) at RB. With Peterson and Culter, they would be unstoppable!!!
I can't mention Peterson without including a clip of "The Run." I was at this game, watching the Paul Johnson coached Georgia Southern team demolish the Jim Tressel coached Youngstown State team in the 1-AA Championship Game. Go Eagles! |

I think Hester will be much improved now that he has Cutler throwing him the ball.
I think this was an excellent move for Chicago. Top 10 or 15 defense, a solid running back in Forte, and a franchise QB, Chicago can make some noise in the NFC this year.

Cutler is not a franchise QB yet. Imho he handled this whole affair poorly (whether orchestrated by him or his agent). He better keep his mouth shut about a new contract or else...

This said as an avid Bears fan who loved Rex initially, but he got pretty hard to watch with all the dumb mistakes.

This is a huge mistake for the bears. (I'm a lifetime bears fan in case you wanted to ask). I can think of a couple of reasons...
1) Bears are a running team, always need to be. Especially in November and December when winds at Soldier field are great, and you can't throw the ball.
2) Cutler is a drama queen. He is prideful and arrogant. He once said that he was a better QB than Elway. Let's think about Elway, by his second and third seasons he had his team with a good record, the fourth he was at the super bowl. And Cutler has done what?
3) Cutler hasn't proved anything, he had one good year.
4) Please note the WR's Cutler had too: Eddie Royal and Brandon Marshall, just a little bit A LITTLE BIT better than Hester and Bennett.
5) Bears HAD Kyle Orton. A great leader, led the bears to a 10-4 record, no thanks to Grossman, who needs to retire now.
6) Orton is also not flashy. You think McMahon was a flashy player or a franchise QB? No. He was a leader with a team which focused on the run (Walter Payton). He threw the ball when it was needed.
7) Bears don't need a QB, Orton was doing fine. They need a defense, what were they ranked last year? 21st, I believe.
8) Bears need an offensive line, and so they get Orlando Pace? Isn't he old, and didn't he play for a horrible offensive line last season. And note: St Louis was very glad to get rid of him.
9) Cutler had how many interceptions last year? 18.
10) Cutler also was only sacked 11 times last year (why? Good offensive line). In Chicago, he will be sacked about 4 times that because now there is no way they can get a good offensive line with the draft picks they gave away.
I'll stop there and let you dwell on why Chicago just made a huge mistake.

Okay, who here remembers the last time the beloved traded a first round pick for a QB ?
Rick Mirer. ( I need a minute to let the shivers dissipate )
Fortunately for Chicagoans we have the yearly crash-and-burn-after-the-all-star-game Cubs with a century of broken hearts, to compare our other Chicago sports teams to.
That being said, I love the move. We have a functioning O line now, a franchise half-back, a franchise QB, and the fastest receiver in the game. Our defense is getting old but with still enough juice to win 10+ games if the offense can score 17+ points a game.
I didnt know there were that many fans of the beloved on the PB. Are all you guys Chicagoans or just grew up Bears fans ?
